lampworking.
Michigan artist, Lavana Shurtliff has been creating distinctive, award-winning jewelry since 1992 using the ancient technique known as lampworking. Her work appeals to varying personal styles -- whether that of your kid sister or your grandmother.
All Lavana's jewelry is created in her studio in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. where she lives with her business partner and their insane cat, Bent. Lavana comes from a family of artists and studied painting and art history at Central Michigan University. She and her wares can be found at art fairs from Tampa to Denver, Ann Arbor to Salt Lake City, Louisville to Kansas City and all points in between.
When not making really cool rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and watches, Lavana can be found on the road, daydreaming about run-ins with Julia Child, or at home -- cooking, painting, collecting shoes and small taxidermied mammals. She is an excellent hostess and plays a cut-throat game of dice.
